For individual guests or groups of guests wanting to have a private experience, vehicles are booked out for exclusive use. Guests will be met by their professional guide and open safari vehicle at a designated collection point.
(If guests would like to be collected directly from their accommodation, they are requested to discuss this option with the Matumi Team prior to the safari)
The vehicle will then depart for the Kruger National Park and the adventure begins! This is a full day excursion [The Kruger Park Full Day Safari (Private) will have an estimated duration of 10.5 to 11 hours] and so there will be multiple stops throughout the day for refreshments and for guests to have a break from sitting in the vehicle. Being in an open safari vehicle gives guest the opportunity to view many animals, including the Big 5, up close. Guests will be taken to a main rest camp at lunchtime where they have access to all the camp facilities and can purchase food and beverages. Once the safari has concluded, guests will be taken back to the original designated collection point.

Something to consider when choosing a safari is the impact your choice can have on the environment.
Matumi Destinations’ vehicles are designed to comfortably seat up to ten guests per safari. What is important to note is that by choosing this as an option it means less vehicle traffic per guest group, which then has a far lighter footprint per person entering the park. This has positive benefits at sightings, on the animals themselves and on the National Park infrastructure. By choosing a Kruger Park Full Day Safari with Matumi Destinations, you will not only have an incredible personal experience but you are helping in your own way to encourage a more sustainable safari.
Lunch stops will take place at one of the main rest camps (lunch will be for our guest’s own account). The main rest camps have a great variety of meals to choose from and are very well stocked at all times.

Mid-safari, we’ll pause at a scenic lookout to enjoy sundowners and light snacks as the sky transforms with the colours of dusk, a magical moment unique to afternoon game drives.
Once the sun dips below the horizon, you’ll head back to the original meeting point, filled with stories, sightings, and the unforgettable sights and sounds of the South African bush.

We had the most amazing private safari experience. Our Safari guide, Gert, made it so interesting. He was so knowledgeable and he took the time to impart his knowledge on so many facts of nature. We saw so many animals big and small and beautiful birds. We stopped for mid-morning coffee and rusks to appreciate the beauty around us.
